The castle Gavaudun is located in the Lot et Garonne, neighboring department of the Dordogne.
After 20 minutes by car we arrived on the parking located at the foot of the castle, starting point of this hike that will make us discover the hamlet of St Avit. It houses the birthplace (supposed) of Bernard Palissy, famous ceramicist of the sixteenth century and avant-garde physicist. To reach this hamlet we have covered about 6km of paths crossing wooded areas in the beneficial shade or bordering the fields of corn or chestnut groves. On the way we feast on cherries and we reperons magnificent wild figs weighed down with many fruits being ripened.
After leaving the hamlet of St Avit, we are halfway through our loop and we cross the departmental to climb the hillside that will take us less than 2 hours to Laurenque. We visit the mysterious church Sainte-Anne de Castelle then the Priory Saint-Sardos de Laurenque.
