Milandes Castle

We've tested : Milandes Castle

Located in the Dordogne Valley, we noticed during a canoe trip, the characteristic silhouette of this castle like no other. We enjoyed a beautiful autumn day to see it more closely. We were far from imagining what we would discover by crossing the gate of the Château des Milandes ...
The tourist site of Château des Milandes is not only gardens and a castle. It is also the extraodinary history of life Josephine Baker. Josephine Baker was a huge Music Hall artist but she was also (and above all) a woman with a big heart. Unfortunately, her generosity cost her her fortune and it was in the greatest poverty that she ended her life. Her castle hosts a large collection of photos, etchings, publication about Josephine Baker. A dive in the "crazy years". We discovered the castle where Josephine had so many joys. We especially discovered the exciting life of a very great lady. I am sure that as for us the visit of the Château des Milandes will not leave you indifferent.

We also loved the gardens with its majestic fontanelles, we attended the sunset many exotic birds occupying huge aviaries. Our visit ended with a beautiful show of birds of prey.

A family outing not to be missed.
