Périgord has a vast network of marked out hiking courses. Besides the GR36 - one of the country roads of St Jacques de Compostelle - runs alongside the Moulin de David campsite.
You could, for instance, from the Moulin de David campsite go walking to visit the fortified town of Monpazier (3km) or the castle of Biron (3km). Hiking in Périgord is always pretext to discover history.
In the various Tourist Centers of the region you will get for a modest sum the maps of the marked out hiking courses. Courses of 2 to 3km for a family stroll, courses of about ten km for a half-day walk and longer courses for a full day walk.
It is 130km of marked out hiking paths with fauna, flora and heritage discoveries. The hiking around Monpazier guide identifies 11 circuits from 4 to 18 km. From Monpazier, the loops of the Verrone river (11km), of La Bastide (11km), of the Moulin à Vent (4.5km) et of the Potences (13km) will make you discover the region close to the Moulin de David campsite, whereas the loops of Buffarot (8km) and of Peyrecourt (18km) start from the village of Capdrot where the river Dropt originates.
It is 210 km of marked out hiking, ORV and equestrian paths divided in 20 loops of 3 to 27km as well as a fauna and flora discovery circuit. Hiking at Beaumont en Périgord is an opportunity to discover a magnificent fortified town of the 14th century built in 1272 but also the village of St Avit-Sénieur and its abbey, UNESCO classified, the medieval village of Montferrand du Périgord and its St Christopher church (medieval paintings), the fortified town of Molières and the house of Ste Sabine Born, made of stacked beams.
You will find 12 hiking loops (from 8 to 20km) from the banks of the Dordogne river to the paths of the Bessèche river. You will be able thus to discover the village of Bouillac with its church of Romanesque stock with a bell gable, its pigeon houses and manors, the loops of Alles-sur-Dordogne (16km) and Badefols-sur-Dordogne (14km) will delight you with their panoramas on the Dordogne river. It will be also an opportunity for you to visit the Garden of Planbuisson where bamboos have a pride of place.

About ten hiking loops on the canton of Issigeac to the discovery of countryside landscapes and of the local heritage. The loop of the Country of Issigeac (16km) will make you discover the hamlet of La Pouge and its mill in the glen of the Banège (tributary of the Dropt) before leading you to the picturesque village of Mandacou. Another circuit of 13km will make you discover Monmadalès, a village which has known how to maintain its authenticity and its medieval country heritage.
